“Historical motorbikes in the Iblean baroque”, the eighteenth edition

Although little more than a week has passed, the echo of the 18th edition of what has now become a classic for two-wheelers of yesteryear, namely Historic Motorcycles in the Iblean Baroque, continues to be talked about. Also because the large Maltese delegation that participated took the opportunity to consolidate relationships that will then also have tourism implications, to say the least. The residents of the Isola dei Cavalieri, in fact, continue to have a considerable interest in the Iblean territory and every opportunity is valid to try to cultivate this passion and make it become increasingly rooted. The welcome, then, that the Ibleo Veteran car club reserved for all the participants, including the Maltese, served to cement even more, if any were needed, this firm affection that the groups of centaurs who adore this type of demonstrations against the Iblean association led by president Antonino Provenzale. Who, assisted by his board of directors, works with great attention to ensure that answers that are up to the task can always be received, both in terms of knowledge of the territory at a landscape and monumental level and with regards to the tasting of food and wine delicacies such as only the Hyblaean area can offer. This year, then, the Veteran has decided to focus on another offshoot of this territory, namely Palazzolo Acreide, which, although not administratively included in the province of Ragusa, is a full part of it both in terms of continuity geographical and with regards to food and wine traditions. “In fact – explains President Provenzale – it is as if our guests felt at home. We had lunch in a characteristic restaurant which was much appreciated. And then, first, there was a cultural visit which, even in this circumstance, received numerous approvals. We have therefore closed the 18th event with a view to the next editions, not forgetting that soon there will be the halfway point of the twentieth anniversary in which we will strive to do even better to relaunch the ambitions of the club. In the meantime, however, allow me to thank all those who, as always, worked hard for the success of the initiative, and I am talking about the members of the board as well as all the collaborators, and last but not least also the representatives of the police forces, in particular of the traffic police, patrols made available by the police commissioner of the province of Ragusa, who helped us to give even greater grandeur to the transit of these “old ladies” who continue, and rightly so, to be admired by everyone”. Furthermore, it is worth underlining the presence of the commissioner of Motorcycle events of ASI, the historic Automotoclub of Italy, Antonio Trapani, who expressed his appreciation for the success of the event and who was pleasantly surprised by the combination of the event sport in itself and the tourist qualification of the routes of which the participants themselves become protagonists. Finally, the visit to the Camarina museum was very interesting, with the director Domenico Buzzone as an exceptional guide, creator of the new format to ensure that the site is increasingly appreciated.
