CORIGLIANO-ROSANO – He is summoned for tomorrow June 4th – three days before the elections – the municipal council of Corigliano-Rossano, after a second warning from the Prefect for failure to comply with the mandatory approval of the final budget, by 30 April 2024, relating to the 2023 financial year:
the first warning is dated April 17, 2024, the second dated May 20.
To get a complete picture of the mismanagement of the most important, vital affairsit must be said that the same thing happened for the 2024 budget forecast, which had to be approved by 31 December 2023, and which, instead, following a prefectural intimation, was approved four months late, on 16 April.
The Mayor and Municipal Council, busy with the elections, with the help of the Financial Sector Manager, the General Secretary and the Board of Auditors, attempted not to approve the final balance sheetmaking the obligation fall on the newly elected City Council, to avoid dealing with the many falsehoods, even by omission, and technical irregularities of the balance sheet items.
They were confident in this, in the belief that there was no longer time for the procedures for the forced dissolution of the expiring City Council.
However, the Prefect’s latest warning caused the “project” to failbecause he imposed on the Municipal Secretary the “immediate notification of this document to the Mayor and all councilors”an act that warned the Municipality to convene the Council “no later than the peremptory deadline of twenty days”.
I hope that the opposition councillors, who for the entire duration of their administrative mandate did not shine with commitment, ability and loyalty to the electoral mandate they received, will have a burst of pride in this last and fundamental institutional fulfillment, denouncing, first of all, for failure to fulfill its duties, the Board of Auditors, a control body which must have the City Council as its point of reference and not be at the service of the Mayor to cover up the mayor’s misdeeds. The aforementioned board made serious omissions which invalidate the truthfulness of the document, which is therefore not reliable.
Consequently, they must not assume the responsibility of voting for its approval and rather ask that the Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Auditors ascertain the treasury damages, identify those responsible for the same to order them to pay compensation, and, at the same time, transmit the documents to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to prosecute the authors of the forgeries.
However, rumors of the last few hours they say that the mayor Flavio Stasi and his majority would be intent on ensuring that there was no quorum in the chamberto pass the buck, very hot, to the City Council that will come after the elections next Saturday and Sunday.
