San Giorgio in Bosco, the victim was called Mauro Ceccato and was originally from Gazzo: the man fell ill

He was walking near his home, near via Sant’Antonio in San Giorgio in Bosco, when an illness – presumably a heart attack — knocked him unconscious and made him slip into the canal that runs along the road he was traveling on. It was Friday who lost his life Mauro Ceccatoa seventy-year-old resident in the area, but originally from Gazzo, for whom there was nothing that could be done: despite attempts to re-emerge from the particularly muddy waterof the canal, did not have time to attract the attention of any passerby, drowning shortly after the fall, probably also due to his already particularly compromised physical health conditions.

What happened

Some passers-by noticed the lifeless body floating in the water. It was they who raised the alarm and called for help – health workers from Suem 118 and the firefighters — who, however, were only able to note that there was nothing more that could be done for the victim. At the moment, other hypotheses are excluded other than that it was a tragic accident caused by a sudden illness: in fact, also the carabinieri of the Cittadella company who, after the initial investigations on site, highlighted that there were no signs of previous violence on the body of the seventy-year-old that could lead the death to an attack. The military therefore also promptly notified the public prosecutor on duty: the man’s body was then transported to the forensic medicine institute in Cittadella and subsequently returned to his family. He didn’t just have to deal with particularly delicate physical conditions: the victim was in fact a person known in the community of San Giorgio in Bosco precisely because he was regularly followed by the municipal social services, who had long been involved in the treatment and therapy of the mental health problems that the man was experiencing. Roberto Miatello, former mayor of San Giorgio in Bosco for two terms, also reiterates the importance of municipal social services: «I was particularly touched by this news, even though I didn’t personally know the victim.

Services

These episodes there they remind you of the importance of implementing and finance services dedicated to people who demonstrate situations of serious physical and mental fragility, as in this case”. «There are already many people who are looked after by the social services of our municipality – she continued – but the need primary and fundamental is to make them even more concrete. When it comes to mental health and socially risky situations, one cannot offer a partial and unhelpful hand over time, rather one must understand the need to provide continuous help throughout the lives of these people, never spot-on.”
