He threatens security guards with a machete – L’Aquila

SULMONA. Moments of panic, in the early morning of yesterday, in Sulmona, in Piazza Capograssi, where a 72-year-old of Romanian origins went into a rage, brandishing a machete, about 60 centimeters long, against the security guards who serve in the Court of Sulmona. From the Capograssi bridge, with the machete in his hands, the man arrived within a few steps of the shops and the Palace of Justice. At that point, given the dangerous situation, the 72-year-old – who does not live in the city – was immediately stopped by security guards. Disoriented and agitated, according to what we learned, he threatened the security operators with the machete. After a few minutes of tension, the 72-year-old was induced to give up, thanks also to the dialogue and professionalism of the two security guards, Loris Ganga And Giovanni Grilli. The Romanian threw the weapon to the ground and a patrol of the carabinieri from the Sulmona company intervened on the spot and, under the orders of the major Toni Di Giosia, identified the 72-year-old and seized the large machete. “I found it on the street a few weeks ago and so far I’ve used it to cut wood,” the 72-year-old justified himself to the military. Words deemed unreliable by the police who, after taking the elderly man to the barracks for checks, reported him to the judicial authorities for illegal possession of a weapon capable of causing offense.
An event that caused considerable concern among those in the neighborhood who witnessed the scene. (ada)
