After greeting the new Government Commissioner Giuseppe Petronzi, the president underlined the importance of a common effort to put an end to the conflicts that mark the international scenario today and which also cause numerous victims among civilians, especially children and the elderly. It is important to recall, he said, the fundamental principles of our anti-fascist Constitution, which excludes the use of war as a tool for resolving disputes. Also underlined was the importance of the active participation of every citizen, especially young people, in public life, exercising their rights responsibly and contributing to the solution of common problems. In the words of the President of the Province also the value of the unity of the institutions beyond the legitimate and healthy differences, so that the common will prevails over distinctions and partisan positions. Finally, gratitude was expressed towards the Head of State and all those who wore a uniform in the square today engaged in security, public order and civil protection, and towards the representatives of fighting, military and remembrance associations for their solidarity, their commitment and their spirit of sacrifice.
During the ceremony, which saw the flag being raised on the Civic Tower, Government Commissioner Petronzi read the Message from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to the Prefects and presented the honors of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. The mayor of Trento and representatives of the Armed Forces also spoke. Also present were numerous authorities representing the institutions, associations, volunteers and the entire Trentino community, which also participated with a large presence of citizens.
