Simone Patrinicola return to success in Italian Gran Turismo Championship. The Enna driver won Imola in the second race of round number two of the series calendar Sprint.

A victory, the one achieved in crew with Lorenzo Pegoraro on the Ferrari 488 Challenge from the Best Lap, which repays the 2023 Endurance Pro-Am champion for a particularly unfortunate first round at Misano last May. But also of a success that had been denied to him on the Santerno circuit in the first race on Saturday after Pegoraro, who took pole in the first qualifying round, had brought forward the start and this had resulted in a drive through penalty. Penalty served by Patrinicola, author of the second driving stint, ultimately classified eighth and sixth in the 1st Pro-Am Division.

In the second official practice session, Patrinicola set the fifth fastest time. Author of an excellent start from the third row in Race 2, the Sicilian, who is followed by the club Time Of Eros Di Prima, immediately moved up to second. Position that he maintained for his entire driving shift. Pegoraro then got into the car at the pit stop and overtook the Lamborghini of Englishman Christopher Milner to take the lead, then maintaining the lead until the finish despite two safety cars repeatedly compacting the group.

The next round of the Italian GT Sprint will take place at Mugello on the weekend of 24 and 25 August.
