Sunday morning (June 2, 2024) the official celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Foundation of the Republic took place in the presence of the ecclesiastical, civil and military authorities, of the fighting and military associations.
The event began at 11.00 in Piazza Castello with the review of the armed picket, the flag raising ceremony, which was followed the blessing of the crown by the Archbishop of Benevento SE Mons. Felice Accrocca and the deposition of the same in front of the War Memorial by the Prefect of the Province of Benevento Dr. Carlo Torlontano, accompanied by the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri Col. Enrico Calandro, by the Mayor Hon. Clemente Mario Mastella and by the President of the Province Dr. Nino Lombardi.
The Prefect read the message from the President of the Republic and subsequently the Mayor and the President of the Province of Benevento spoke with brief speeches.
During the ceremony, the Honors of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic were awarded, awarded by decree of the President of the Republic for long and notable services in civil and military careers.
At the end of the event the students of the National Boarding School “P. Giannone” marched, with the Italian flag, to the tune of the Ode to Joy, composed by Ludwig Van Beethoven.
The musical pieces were performed by the students of the “Nicola Sala” State Conservatory of Music under the direction of Maestro Vincenzo D’Arcangelo.
The event, broadcast as every year by TV7 (channel 96 and Social) ended at 5.00 pm with the lowering of the flag.
