Francesco Bagnaia wins the Italian Grand Prix MotoGP class, seventh stage of the MotoGP. On the Mugello track, the Italian driver won for the third consecutive year. Starting fifth, Pecco immediately took the lead and dominated until the finish line. Second is Enea Bastianini, who overtook Jorge Martin on the last lap and gave Ducati an Italian one-two. Fourth Marc Marquez. Thanks also to the victory in the Sprint Race on Saturday, Bagnaia closes on Martin in the MotoGP standings: the Italian rider now has a gap of 18 points. Marc Marquez is still third, followed by Bastianini.

The race at Mugello

At Mugello Jorge Martin (Ducati Prima Pramac) starts on pole, followed by Maverick Vinales (Aprilia), Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini), Enea Bastianini (Ducati Factory) and Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Factory). The Italian driver had recorded the second best time during qualifying, but started from fifth position due to a penalty. Excellent sprint from Bagnaia at the start, who recovers five positions and takes the lead. Behind him Martin, Bastianini, Marc Marquez, Acosta and Vinales. In the first laps Bagnaia and Martin are very fast and close. Behind, Bastianini tries to keep Marc Marquez at bay. With 18 laps to go, this is the situation in the top positions: Bagnaia, Martin, Bastianini, Marquez, Acosta, Morbidelli and Vinales. The first six, up to Morbidelli, all contained in one second. With ten laps to go the positions are still the same. Bagnaia and Martin lap more or less at the same times: in one lap he gains one, in the next the other. On lap 17 Marquez overtakes Bastianini at San Donato and takes third place. A few laps later the Italian rider manages to get back in front of Marquez and take back the podium. Not only that: at the last corner he also overtakes Martin. It ends with an Italian Ducati double: Bagnaia wins, Bastianini second. Then Martin and Marc Marquez. Then Martin and Marc Marquez. Followed by Acosta, Morbidelli, Di Giannantonio, Vinales, Alex Marquez and, closing the top 10, Binder.
