Republic Day, Emiliano: «Puglia is a capital of Resistance and democracy»

«Puglia had a central role in the reconstruction of the country and in the choice for Republic in the referendum of 2 June 1946″. Thus the president of the Puglia Region, Michele Emilianoon the margins of Republic Day celebrations this morning, Sunday 2 June, in Largo Giannella on the Bari seafront.

Emiliano recalled how the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella «came to us to celebrate the anniversary of the congress of the National Liberation Committees where the debate on the change of the form of government, from Monarchy to Republic, became central. Bari and the entire region – underlined the Apulian governor – fully claim to be one of the capitals of the Resistance and Italian democracy».

Today, the president of the Puglia Region underlined, «it is the party of the futurein which Italy is reconciled, plans its own path and follows it through the strict rules of the Constitution, but also through freedom. Today in saying “long live the Republic and long live Italy“, we launch a cry of optimism, joy and hope towards all those who feel Italian, or who will become Italian by embracing our principles and our values”, concluded Emiliano.
