Today marks the 78th Anniversary of the proclamation of Republic. The celebratory events a Reggio Calabria began with the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Monument to the Fallenwhich was followed by the blessing and deposition of the Laurel crownand reading the message of President from the Republic by the Prefect of Reggio Calabria, Dr. Clara Vaccaro. In the evening the flag will be lowered at the War Memorial. On the Falcomatà seafront, at the Arena dello Stretto, a concert by the wind orchestra of the “F. Conservatory” will be held at 7pm. Cilea”, directed by prof. A. Manuli. While in the “Gallery” of Palazzo San Giorgio, headquarters of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, some of the works created by children from schools of all levels in the province on the theme of the Constitution are exhibited.
The Prefect: “the fire in the Catona camp made me angry”
The prefect of Reggio Calabria, Clara Vaccaroduring the celebrations of June 2nd, said: “we need all citizens to react in the face of abuse and violence. The fire at the Catona camp made me angry because it makes little sense. We must isolate those who make these gestures and fight every day for freedom“, remarks the Prefect.

The commissioner Salvatore La Rosahe highlighted: “Today we celebrate the values that are embodied in the constitution. Ours is a clear commitment alongside citizens to protect me and help them.”
