Viterbo celebrates the Republic – The Province of Civitavecchia

With a maxi tricolor on the bell tower of the cathedral, the capital celebrates the Republic, which turns 78. For the first time in Piazza San Lorenzo, the traditional ceremony to celebrate June 2nd in the presence of the military, civil, political and religious authorities of the province preceded by the laying of a wreath at the shrine of the fallen.

The prefect Gennaro Capo read the message from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, then followed by the interventions of the mayor Chiara Frontini and the president of the Province Alessandro Romoli. “Today, as then, there is still a need for participation,” said the first citizen; while Romoli underlined that “the Republic walks on our legs”. The ceremony began at 9.15 am with the deployment of the joint force honor unit, the entry of the medal displays and banners of the combat and arms associations and the banners of the city and province of Viterbo. Then the honors to the Chief Prefect and the national anthem performed by the Army Aviation band. Before the end of the ceremony, the honors of the Order of Merit of the Republic were awarded to some citizens for the merits acquired towards the nation.
