A varied program characterized the celebrations of the 78th Anniversary of the Republic Day in Pavia on Sunday 2 June, based on the republican values of participation, social cohesion, solidarity, meeting and institutional collaboration.
The official ceremony, after the honors and the review of the departments, the flag raising, the reading of the message from the President of the Republic by the Prefect Francesca De Carlini and a greeting address from the Mayor, was enriched by the students of the Istituto Comprensivo of Via Scopoli in Pavia.
After singing several verses of the Mameli Hymn, the children presented some reflections inspired by the fundamental principles of the Constitution and sang tunes based on the themes of freedom and participation. At the end of the ceremony, the Prefect gave each child a paper copy of the Constitution, bound with tricolor taping.
As a corollary to the context of unity and participation in the National Day, the monumental courtyard of the Castle hosted an exhibition of vehicles, equipment and instruments in use by the Army, the Police Forces, the Civil Protection and the Volunteers, in addition to the initiative, for the little ones, “Pompieropoli”, organized by the National Association of Fire Brigades, which allowed them to try their hand at an assisted journey that reproduces the different moments of training and intervention of the Fire Brigade.
The celebrations of 2 June, in addition to the awarding of the Honors of Merit of the Italian Republic, were completed by a meeting, at Palazzo Malaspina, of the Prefect of Pavia with the Mayors and with the highest representatives of the Institutions, of the Judicial Authority, of the University, of the economic, social, trade union world and of the police forces.
Present in the Prefecture, among others, the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Milan and the Attorney General at the Court of Pavia, the Bishop, the Magnificent Rector, the Rectors of the Borromeo, Cairoli, Ghislieri, Collegio Nuovo, Santa Caterina colleges , the Commander of the Lombardy Carabinieri Legion, the President of the Province, the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Chamber of Commerce, the President of the Banca del Monte and the leaders of the Police Force.
