“Work and inclusion. The person at the centre”

Europe and Ferrara were the subject of the meeting organized yesterday morning at Astra by Action candidate Luca Scanavini. Alongside him are the former family minister Elena Bonetti and Don Domenico Bedin, called to address the topic – “triangulation” between equal opportunities, work and inclusion. At the beginning, the candidate for mayor Fabio Anselmo underlined the “important” adhesion of Action to the project which sees him attempting to climb to the helm of the city, all according to the fundamental principle of “cohesion” and focusing on the person and his rights. Bonetti, former minister of the Conte II and Draghi governments, supported the need for an alliance between the world of work-businesses, institutions and voluntary work-third sector. “The employment rate started to grow with the Draghi government, but the percentage of women and young people who work is still low; the quality of wages is not at the levels of the best in Europe”. In short, there is a lot to do. As for the Family Act (the bill he proposed to support families), he lamented the non-implementation by the current government “despite everyone having contributed to its drafting”. Luca Scanavini, an expert in training, then spoke about the need to match “market and competence”, underlining how the person must be at the centre. In turn, Don Domenico Bedin highlighted the need to combine hospitality with the aforementioned professional training together with the teaching of the Italian language. In this regard, Bonetti recalled that “the Salvini decrees have also removed funds for this purpose”. Don Bedin then stated that in response to an incredible “ideological refusal”, the trinomial solidarity-training-inclusion would allow reception centers to conveniently employ migrants in our businesses.
