The bike as a means to discover the world and also oneself. The journey, and his story, as an opportunity to do charity, celebrate life and support those who give dignity to those who suffer. After traveling by bike alone across half of Europe, covering over 2700 kilometers in 13 days, Jana Mazacova, a well-known physiotherapist from Pesaro (by adoption) has decided to reach a new goal: publish a book with her stories of her adventures on two wheels. And once again the entire proceeds will be donated to help those who suffer. “After the long ride to my hometown in the Czech Republic – says the physiotherapist – during which I raised funds to support the Ant Foundation (the angels who provide free home care to cancer patients ed.), this time I decided to help the City of Joy, a voluntary association that operates in Pesaro and deals with solidarity and reception of homeless people. The book is not for sale – Jana clarifies – and it does not have a price “Free offer, without any obligation. It will not be distributed in bookstores, it can be collected from me in the studio in Piazza A. Fava, 4 (by appointment) or at the Bar Romeo, in via Mastrogiorgio, where I have left some copies”.

Jana, like many others in recent times, is a cyclist born by chance. “After a somewhat daring start – she says smiling – in which I didn’t know how to use the gearbox or attach my shoes to the pedals, I became fond of this wonderful sport. Year after year I pushed myself further and further and undertook increasingly longer routes in these splendid Marches, and beyond. My only goal is to experience cycling as a true cycle tourist, without competitiveness or haste, but with the curiosity to visit cities, small villages and places rich in history, culture and charm”.

And so, from the Marche he traveled throughout Europe: in 2021 with a journey from Pesaro to the Czech Republic, where his family of origin lives, covering 2,700 km in 10 days. From there he took off for a second adventure, from Pesaro to Santiago de Compostela. But why a book? And then in Italian, which isn’t even her native language. “The idea was given to me by the clients – confesses the physiotherapist – to whom I told them about my bike trips during therapies. At first I ruled it out categorically, then I said why not? I would be happy if other girls also abandoned the fear of cycling far away, even alone. The bike is good for both physical and mental health, but also for the environment and for the wallet to write, study history, grammar… yes grammar, because I am self-taught in the Italian language and this book is also my personal satisfaction. The more I write, the more I enjoy it and I have things to tell. So make yourself comfortable, fasten your seatbelts. engage the pedals, prepare a good coffee and enjoy reading”. Francesca Pedini
