The leaders for Avs in the Islands, Leoluca Orlandowill take a tour of the neighborhood markets in Palermo to meet voters in view of the vote on 8 and 9 June. An opportunity to learn about Leoluca Orlando’s program at European Parliamentfounded on peace and rights, on environmental and social justice and the centrality of the Mediterranean in Europe.

“A place, the Mediterranean, of great untapped potential – says Orlando – which represents 1% of the world’s seas. 20% of world trade and telecommunications pass through the Mediterranean. A place crossed by a million migrants in ten years, with 28 thousand confirmed deaths. There is a connection between barges and farmers’ tractors. Migrants are fleeing wars, hunger and desertification caused by climate change. The same one that caused serious damage and losses to Sicilian and Sardinian farmers. At the European Parliament I will propose an Erasmus for farmers, workers and artisans – Orlando continues –, an Erasmus not only for those who can afford it or have studied. We need to move away from the logic of the assisted farmer.”

The appointments: Monday 3 June, from 9.00 to 13.00, in viale Giuseppe Di Vittorio in the Sperone district; Tuesday 4 June, from 9.00 to 13.00, in Viale Francia; Wednesday 5 June, from 9.00 to 13.00, in Passo di Rigano; Thursday 6 June, from 9.00 to 13.00, in via Santissima Mediatrice.
