OLBIA. Fabrizio De André and “La Buona Novella” come back to life thanks to a great concert by the Ensemble Laborintus of Sassari, which marks the beginning of the “Sound, Stone & Soul Festival” scheduled in San Pantaleo from June and September.

The first major event, a tribute to the Genoese and Sardinian-by-adoption singer-songwriter, will be held on Sunday June 2nd at 10pm, in Piazzale via Molise. On stage there will be the musicians of the Laborintus musical club and the vocal group Joyful Soul Odv Sassari directed by the maestro Daniele Manca.

An unmissable evening, with free entry, which brings the magic of De André’s unmistakable music to the village of Olbia with the arrangements of the maestro, as well as artistic director of the Festival, Gabriele Verdinelliand the lead vocals and guitar of Carlo Doneddu. They will also perform: Alessio Ferreri (keyboards), Andrea Lubino (drums and percussion), Antonio Pitzoi (guitars), Lorenzo Sabattini (Bass), Graziano Solinas (accordion), Angelo Vargiu (clarinet). To make the concert even more engaging the contribution of Maria Antonietta Azzuchosen as the narrator.

“The good news, a typical concept album that De André never performed live in its entirety, raises various issues that involve decisive performance and staging choices – declares Verdinelli who will introduce the evening -. The version by the Ensemble Laborintus, one of the very few authorized and sponsored by the De André Foundation, has its strengths in the elaborate choral part, in the freshness of the instrumental part and in the counterpoint between the solo voice of Carlo Doneddu and the reciting voice of Maria Antonietta Azzu. The concert is a controversial piece from the times of ’68 – continues the maestro – which was not very popular with the Church at the time but also with the left and which now, despite having lost some of its subversive power, has kept intact, and even more evident, the poetic and human aspect linked to the earthly figure of Mary, to her story and to the unparalleled relationship between mother and son”.

Before the concert, there will be “wine tastings” at 7.30pm offered by Tenuta Muscazega in Luras. An opportunity to discover the cellar and its quality products.

The next appointment with the Festival, “Ester Formosa and Elva Lutza”, is on the calendar Wednesday 26 June. In addition to the singer and actress Ester Formosa, Nico Casu (trumpet and vocals), Gianluca Dessì (guitars) and Bruno Piccinnu (Mediterranean percussion) will perform.

The “Sound, Stone & Soul Festival” is organized by the Laborintus musical club of Sassari, which has been involved for forty years in promoting original and important events involving culture and music throughout the island, together with the San Pantaleo Tourist Consortium. The Festival is also financed by the Sardinia Foundation, by the Sardinia Region and enjoys the patronage of the municipality of Olbia and Confcommercio nord Sardinia. It is also part of the network of events promoted and financed by the “Salude & Trigu” project of the Sassari Chamber of Commerce. The Alberea company also collaborates in the event and, having been committed for years to stem the climate emergency, on the occasion of the event it guarantees the planting of twenty trees from the “Laborintus forest” in the municipality of Olbia. It is advisable to park your car at the entrance to the village.
