Sport and Inclusion: Tivoli and Guidonia host the “Special Olympics” for the “Play The Games”

Tivoli and Guidonia Montecelio, to the east of the capital, are currently hosting the “Special Olympics” for the “Play The Games” in which over 500 athletes taking part in swimming and bowling competitions. The opening ceremony was held last Friday 31 May: over 1300 Special Olympics athletes, technicians and family members from four regions participated – in addition to volunteers and staff.

Now in their sixth edition, the national summer games are held in the Play The Games format with the patronage of the Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies. A great event with multidisciplinary and inclusive sport in preparation for the 2025 Special Olympics World Championships.

Among the athletes who shone most in the first two days of the event, the young Pigliese Alessandro Luca who – thanks to the preparation undertaken together with the coach Emiliano Quiselli – obtained two extraordinary results: first place in the 25 meter backstroke and first place in the 50 meters style.

Just yesterday – Saturday 31 May – Alessandro turned 21, thus celebrating his birthday in the best possible way and with two amazing victories.

Congratulations to Alessandro and his technician Emiliano for this important achievement.
