Legnano – The bells of San Magno are ringing, echoed by the roll of the drums on Corso Garibaldi announcing the arrival of the winners who come to collect the coveted Cross. 7.30 pm sharp, the ritual of the Translation of the Cross begins on time and the yellow-red colors wave in the square. The translation will report “Il Crocione” from the Basilica of San Magno to the church of Contrada Legnarello, winner of the Palio of the year of the Lord 2024, thus concluding the ceremonies of the Palio di Legnano 2024. As per tradition, the Regencies of all the Contradas took their places in the churchyard to honor the winning Contrada and, above all, the Cross. The grand prior Alessandro Mengoli collected the Peso del Palio 2024, the 1176 gram silver artefact created by the young artists of Brera (read here).
A shiver from the hesitation of the Cross carried in the arms accompanied by a jolt of the square, then only hugs and choirs that anticipate the celebration. But first the whole city bowed as they greeted the yellow-red procession. At 8.20 pm, after touching the door, the Cross enters the Church of the Redeemer. The party now continues at the Manor in via Dante, the appointment is for the victory dinner on Saturday 15 June.
