CORIGLIANO-ROSSANO – The project entitled “Little heroes at school… when it was Calabria day” of the nursery school of Donnanna and Via Torino which are part of the “Alessandro Amarelli” comprehensive institute of Rossano.

«The event – we read in the note – opened after the initial greeting from the Headmaster Tiziana Cerbino and the Teacher Mena Madeo (Project Representative), with the official school anthem “La Scuola… il mio futuro” and the song “Il cielo è semper blu” by the unforgettable Calabrian singer-songwriter Rino Gaetano. For the occasion, the young kindergarten students performed a series of choreographies with circles (embellished with orange blossoms and citrus fruits) to the rhythm of music. Motor routes were carried out between the five provinces, team games with the use of typical Calabrian products including the Tropea onion and liquorice. The gigantic map of Calabria with the five provinces and the Calabrian tarantella is beautiful, with the traditional costumes handcrafted by the teacher Graziella Colamaria, danced by the students and teachers which gave the right epilogue to the event. The children, thanks to the excellent work of the teachers, thrilled their parents and those who took part in the event.”

«The recreational-motor project, promoted by USR Calabria, – continues the note – has become a very valid teaching tool for many nursery schools distributed throughout the national territory. The aim of the project is to use movement as a privileged channel for learning, communicating and relating to the environment through play in all its forms. The common thread this year was Leonida Repaci’s story: When it was the day of Calabria, God found himself in the hands of 15 thousand square kilometers of clay with purple reflections, he thought that with that clay he could model a country with a maximum of two million inhabitants. He was a text in a creative vigor, the Lord, and promised himself to make a masterpiece like Calabria”.

«The children attending nursery school were introduced, through the physical path, to the knowledge of the Calabria Region, of its five Provinces (Cosenza, Catanzaro, Crotone, Vibo Valentia and Reggio Calabria), but also of its sea, mountains, vegetation, fishing, agricultural products, traditions and popular music. The students, through motor games, developed and consolidated global motor skills, cognitive skills and linguistic skills. They also demonstrated an increase in confidence and also a refinement of relational skills. These then developed an expanded socialization within the various groups that were formed. The person in charge of the project, Teacher Mena Madeo, wanted to thank, before the final greetings, the School Director, for her presence, the President of Volleyball Rossano, Professor Antonio Russo, for the concession of the “Felice Calabrò” Sports Hall of Viale Sant’Angelo, the Reporter Antonio Le Fosse for documenting the event, all the teachers in the field who collaborated and actively contributed to the success of the initiative, the USR Calabria staff, the school collaborators, the parents of the students for their active collaboration and, above all, the young athletes who were the real protagonists of the day. Even the Headmaster, Tiziana Cerbino, wanted to congratulate, at the end of the event, the Teacher Mena Madeo, as well as all the teachers of the Donnanna and Via Torino nursery school, for the excellent work, but also with the magnificent students for the extraordinary performance which thrilled everyone. Finally, the appointment is for the next school year 2024-2025 with many projects in the pipeline, at the “Alessandro Amarelli” Comprehensive Institute in the urban area of Rossano, which will see the pupils of the nursery school, the primary school and those of the Secondary school”.
