The development of the city passes through gastronomy, sport, culture and synergy between entrepreneurs who invest daily in and for the territory, living it to the full and betting on its potential to enhance it. The first tournament “Elco Padel Cup”, organized by the association of Catanzaro entrepreneurs “Catanzaro Sea View”, was born from this awareness, to give a new good opportunity to the city of Catanzaro, to grow and become an attraction for fans of one of the most practiced sports of the moment, coming from inside and outside the region. In this morning’s press conference, at the Hotel Perla in the port of the Lido district, the organizers spoke about all the details that will characterize the event which, from 10 to 16 Junewill animate the Lido district in the name of healthy, fun and exciting sport.

“I am honored and happy to be able to present the first edition of the padel tournament with the highest prize money in the city’s history – explained Andrea Rotundo, President of Young Entrepreneurs Catanzaro and Vice-President of the Catanzaro Vista Mare association – we are very happy to have organized this event, our thanks go to all the sponsors, fundamental to being able to put the tournament together – he continued – The objective is to create an event that can be an annual event for the city with a prize fund higher and higher.”

5000 euros up for grabs, a loot that is tempting for many padel players of national caliber who will come to the city determined to bring home the victory and, therefore, ready to put on a show in their matches. Among the most anticipated appearances Juan Irigoitia, Paolo Donadio, Federic Nazal, but not only. The seven days of Catanzaro padel will see many athletes and coaches on the field ready to take to the field, promoting the game of padel and giving visibility to the entire city.

“Organizing an event of this magnitude is a dream come true – said Andrea Sestito of the Giovino Padel Club where the entire tournament will take place – the possibility of hosting so many athletes and professionals of this sport, even of national importance, makes me think that it will be a week dedicated to truly particular sport. The tournament will be divided into 4 categories: platinum, gold, silver and bronze – he continued – it will be possible to follow it on our social pages and also live on digital terrestrial channel 99.”

The conference was also attended by, among others, the mayor Nicola Fiorita and the tourism councilor Antonio Borelliboth underlined how strategic initiatives are for the growth of the territory which synergistically involve the economic actors of the city and which look at sport as a vehicle for growth: “The Catanzaro Vista Mare association organized everything independently, without the help of the ‘Administration, the initiative is all theirs, entirely private, and for me it is an honor to have been invited here – Nicola Fiorita began – I would like to thank you all, organizers and sponsors, for having implemented an important initiative for the city because it is linked to sport and because it opens a window on the territory, bringing attention and movement with a commitment to the future.” This, therefore, is only the beginning of a path that will make Catanzaro a point of reference for padel and will contribute to the growth of the city: “I am convinced that our tourism development can also pass through the strengthening of the sporting dimension that mobilizes the kids, the young people, that it is clean and they like it”, concluded the mayor.

Synergy is certainly the winning card of the Elco Padel Cup, a card that the sponsors have played with awareness: “I believed in this event from the first moment – explained Salvatore Miniaci of Elco Ingross SRL – and I immediately expressed my company’s strong desire to support the event. We are proud to be present and happy to know that thanks to our contribution all this could be achieved.”

For Catanzaro Vista Mare the initiative is a bet that starts from afar and looks to the future with foresight: “We were born years ago as an association of restaurateurs but we immediately understood that the promotion of our territory passes through gastronomy, music and sports – said Antonio Alfieri, President of Catanzaro Vista Mare – there will be a tournament that will bring income for the city with over 200 athletes who with their families will wander around the seaside district, who will help the businesses’ economies – he concluded – all this may seem like nonsense but it is not. Over the next few years we hope to grow the tournament by also expanding it to include women’s participation and increasing its duration. You can therefore understand that our desire is to achieve important development in the area.”
