Turin, the Tour de France in Piedmont in a month. Two days of events and celebrations

On July 1st Turin will host the Tour de France. Exactly one month after the event, the city experiences a weekend of celebration in the name of the Maglia Rosa. With the arrival of the third stage of the Italian Grand Départ, Turin and Piedmont will establish a record as the first city and region to host the grand departures of the two major cycling races, the Giro d’Italia and the great transalpine race, in the same year.

The celebrations began on the morning of Saturday 1 June with a yellow shirt choreography rehearsal Piazza Castello, around a hundred people, coordinated by To Radio and Zip News, animated a flash mob in the center of the Piedmontese capital, in Piazza Castello. The volunteers, all wearing a yellow t-shirt, “designed” a human bike complete with rotating wheels in the center of the square, in front of Palazzo Madama.

A parade will follow from the Palazzo Civico at 3pm, crossing the main streets and squares of the city, up to the Valentino park. In the evening, there Mole Antonelliana and the bridges along the Po will light up yellow.

Sunday 2 June, at 3pm, on Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory will host the concert From Beethoven to Bartalia musical journey withYouth Orchestra of the Arsenal of Peace.

Furthermore, Turin’s ToRide program continues with events such as the “Bikenomics” meeting on May 31st and the “Bicycle Beauty” exhibition, and the Michele Scarponi Foundation will organize cycling activities and debates on road safety on June 8th and 9th.
