RODARI PRIMARY SCHOOL – The very young student speakers in Turin for a conference on the air

On May 30th the boys of 5 B of the Rodari primary school in Vercelli they participated in a conference at the MAcA (Museo A comeambiente) in Turin, representing the Ferraris comprehensive institute.

The only participating Vercelli classattended the event in person, with another eighty students from the Don Murialdo primary school and the Avogadro Higher Institute of Turin, but the Piedmontese classes connected in live streaming were many and the students in total were over 500.

The event was held as part of the project dedicated to young people We and the air PrepAirto raise awareness of the issue of air pollution and coordinated and presented by the doctor Elisa Bianchi by Arpa Piemonte.

The students of the Rodari School had been noticed and appreciated by the experts as part of a “upside down conference” dedicated to the environmental themes of the 2030 Agenda, carried out in the auditorium of the Ferraris comprehensive institute in May 2022 and coordinated by the teachers Ricciardiello And The Master.

Consequently, the invitation to participate in the regional event which took place on 30 May in Turin, during which the students of 5 B Rodari, Tessa Solerio, Pietro Bertoli, Damiano Re And Cassandra Tornari they reported on some research and experiments carried out over the three-year period, within the STEM laboratories of their school, concerning, in particular, fine particles.

The applause from the public and the appreciation of the experts present rewarded the great commitment shown by the students, both in the research phase and in the presentation of the results to the public.

The teachers who accompanied the children in scientific experiences in the classroom and during the conference day, Anna Ricciardiello, Anna Varzi, Chiara Degiovanni, Valeria Puliserti And Marianna Singsthey then supported the Museum’s animators in the proposed workshops.

As a corollary to the event, an exhibition was created with posters, drawings, videos and artefacts by the children.

The exhibition can be visited at MAcA until September.
