The Campania Region has decided to confirm the moral patronage for Naples Pride and that for the second edition of Pride Park. An important institutional recognition that adds to the decision by the Municipality of Naples and the Mayor to renew the co-organization for Naples Pride and Pride Park. Recognitions that are by no means to be taken for granted especially in light of the fact that the main Italian region, Lombardy, decided at the same time not to grant patronage to Milan Pride, deeming the event “divisive, provocative and discriminating”.
Furthermore, just today, remaining on the subject of protection of denied rights, we must with great pleasure record the very harsh stance taken by President De Luca against the Government’s decision to further hinder the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy, a right increasingly hindered by the growing absence of non-objecting doctors. “The presence of pro-life associations in counseling centers offends the dignity of women. Meloni government, shame on you!” These are the very harsh words used by the Governor of our Region during one of his usual social live broadcasts.
They are important signals with great civic and I dare say historical value. These renewed institutional recognitions make Naples and our Campania Region a political and cultural vanguard in our country and in Europe, supports that go far beyond the symbolic value, but which translate into concrete facts in support of LGBTQIA+ people and to protect those segments of the population who still do not see their rights recognized today – comment Antonello Sanninopresident of Antinoo Arcigay Napoli and among the organizers of Napoli Pride -. While this Government, between pro-life and Vannacci, fuels a climate of hatred towards LGBTQIA+ people, from our city and our region there are important signals of closeness to people, to citizens, to those instances of LGBTQIA+ people on a daily basis humiliated and canceled by the political agency of this reactionary Government.
