On Wednesday 29th, Thursday 30th and Friday 31st May, the 40 firefighters employed at the US military bases of Capodichino and Gricignano d’Aversa proclaimed three hours of abstention from work to protest against authoritarianism, mobbing and treatments brutalities to which they are subjected by the American team leaders.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was an episode that occurred last April 15, when during a night-time exercise an Italian firefighter went towards his colleague and fellow countryman to help him and prevent him from falling from the ladder. When called by the American foreman, who reprimanded him for having followed a procedure “not foreseen by the protocol”, the policeman reacted by pushing the foreman with one hand and for this he was fired immediately without even listening to the testimony of one of his colleagues .
As a demonstration of the arrogance of American leaders, there is also the obligation for Italian policemen to undergo humiliating English tests without even having the opportunity to be adequately trained to learn the language.
The CARC Party is in solidarity with the strike called by the firefighters, which is part of the mobilization that is increasingly developing against the excessive power of the American imperialists in Italy.
The harassment suffered by the policemen of the military bases of Capodichino and Gricignano are part of the submission of our country to the US imperialists, who, with the establishment of NATO in 1949, made Italy a sort of protectorate in open violation of the art. 11 of the Republican Constitution.
A submission that combines with the “cage of the EU” and which is all the more evident today that with the general crisis of capitalism having long since reached its acute and terminal phase, the imperialist bourgeoisie is forced to carry the trend further and further forward to war (from Palestine, to Ukraine, to Yemen) to defend its dominance over the world and surround those who try to question it (Russian Federation, People’s Republic of China, etc.).
Mobilizing against US, EU and Zionist imperialists and building an alternative to the governments that perpetuate the subjugation of our country is possible and necessary!
