At Next in Capaccio Paestum, Ezio Capuano was awarded the “Salvatore Apadula” award, now in its eighth edition. «Protagonist of a memorable year at the helm of Taranto», we read in the incipit of the presentation. It is the fourth time, from post-Vicenza onwards, that Capuano reappears in public, but without leaving any trace of details useful for deciphering what his future will be. The long silence, however, in reality, is already a clue: why else not start planning the 2024-2025 sports season since Capuano is also responsible for the rossoblù technical area?
On the horizon
there are no meetings between him and President Giove, but only a promise of discussion decided in the telephone conversation last week. In the meantime, however, Ternana is on the coach: she is on the list to take over from Breda, even if her competitor, Semplici, appears to be a slight favourite. Foggia also remains in the background: Canonico would like to rely on an experienced profile capable of rekindling the passion of a sportingly depressed place after the disappointing 2023/24 season.
The issue always remains the same: Capuano can be courted by any club, but i two year contract that bind him to Taranto do not make the farewell so obvious. While waiting to unravel what, to all intents and purposes, is turning into a mystery, the full group which, in some ways, also involved Taranto. With the inclusion of one of the Under 23 teams in the southern group (Juve, Atalanta or, more likely, Milan), one of the teams from group C should move to group B. There had been rumors that it could be Taranto, but since from a regulatory point of view it won’t be like this: it’s true, the possibility that the rossoblùs could emigrate to Castel di Sangro is concrete (given the restyling works at Iacovone), but the club’s registered office will remain Taranto and that is the parameter that the Lega Pro takes into account when drawing up the groups. No surprises, therefore, from a logistical point of view even if the rossoblù’s home matches are played in Abruzzo. The only exception in this regard concerned the possibility granted to the Giove club to indicate an alternative venue to Iacovone in a region that does not border Puglia, nor even within the Apulian perimeter.
