It will be a day of celebration in the wake of that ‘Urban Renaissance’ which has become a popular quality mark. The citizen committee and ATI traders of Porta Castello are today promoting ‘Via Ariosto Urban Renaissance’, an initiative that aims to overcome the dimension of the center to move towards the vision of a historic city. The meeting is set at 9.30 at the fountain in Viale Umberto I (via Murri), where all guests will be welcomed by characters in costume, including Duchess Carlotta d’Orléans and various characters. There will be surprises along the route towards the centre, through specific stages, such as Piazza Diaz, where traffic from the ring road will be intercepted, attempting to ‘gag’ it for a few seconds. Then you will pass in front of the Casa del Mutilato, where a display case will be displayed with wood from the boats of the refugees who died in Steccato di Cutro. The third stop will be Piazza del Cristo, to then reach Piazza della Legna, the beating heart of Via Ariosto. The collaboration with Confesercenti and Comre will enrich the initiative of many street vendors taking advantage of the pedestrianization of via Ariosto. “The idea makes use of two catalyst poles, the Royal Palace of Rivalta and the centre, and consolidates a connection present in the DNA of the people of Reggio”, says architect Paolo Bedogni, creator of the festival. They collaborate together for Rivalta, Auser di Reggio, the Fenulli club, Spi Cgil, Cinqueminuti and Antonio Casoli, curator of local history.
