Last week’s water and hail storm continues to show damage even after many days. At the moment the most macroscopic things emerged: made up of fallen trees, flooding and damage inside companies such as Apofruit or copious infiltrations even on the roofs of large structures such as the Pievesestina Fair.
“That day we too fell back into a nightmare similar to that of the days of the flood.”
The situation is described by the volunteers in the world of school pedagogy of the La Scacchiera di Onnon association. «The association’s material is stored in a basement in via Tobruk in the racecourse area. And this time too we lost a lot of material. The storm must have knocked out the power. The fact is that in the basements of the buildings the lifting pumps (electrically driven, ed.) did not work. And all those basements, including our storage-archive, have started to expand again. We have lost a lot of the material that we use for volunteering initiatives. And it won’t be easy to repair the damage. For an association like ours which twice in one year has settled damages with 4 zero figures.”
Things were no better in other parts of the city. Among the victims of the water that rained copiously from the sky together with the hail was also Credit Agricole Agency Two: a historic bank branch (formerly Cassa di Risparmio di Cesena) at the base of the condominium located on the corner between Viale Oberdan and via Montanari.
The water fell downwards and the power failure must have stopped the lifting pumps. So for a couple of days the lower floors of the credit institution (where all the electrical systems and main panels are located) were left in the damp until there was a tilt. The bank branch was left without power and ended up not being able to work. It took a few hours to then remove all the accumulated water and restart the plant and bank branch.
