Business digitalisation, the hub for the South at Cetma

BRINDISI – A hub to allow small and medium-sized businesses and public administrations in Puglia and the Basilica to keep pace with those in the north in this phase of advanced digital transition, which includes artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and cybersecurity . This is the objective of the European digital innovation hub presented yesterday at the Cittadella della Ricerca. The project, financed by Mimit and the European Commission, is promoted by the Research and Technology Center (Cetma), which will provide the services free of charge.

Present at the inauguration was the Minister for the South, the Pnrr, Cohesion Policies and European Affairs, Raffaele Fitto, who underlined the strategic role of Cetma in supporting the entrepreneurial system, which independently does not have the possibility of investing adequately in these fields.

The minister highlighted that in the redistribution of resources carried out by the government, great attention was paid not only to research and innovation, but also to training. «The theme of skills was previously absent from the Pnrr, but instead it is fundamental. We have allocated 6 billion euros to Transition 5.0″, he observed.

Research and innovation are linked above all to industrial development. The Brindisi area is experiencing a serious employment crisis, which according to the minister can also be addressed thanks to tools such as the single SEZ: «We are working on the strategic plan, which will include the reference sectors for each territory in which to invest. We are going beyond generalist tools and are instead identifying the needs and opportunities for which to deploy the necessary resources. We are discussing with all the employers and social interlocutors, with the Regions and with institutions of national and international importance – Fitto commented – to have a real picture of the picture of the territories”.

And Cetma, as mentioned by mayor Pino Marchionna, will also be one of the bodies that will constitute the scientific partnership for Brindisi’s candidacy dossier as Italian Capital of Culture.

«The dossier we will present – commented the mayor – is based precisely on the knowledge economy. Innovative skills are needed in transitions, which is why we consider Cetma’s activities to be of great interest.”
