In the early afternoon of today, May 26, 2024, a tragic road accident occurred in the Acese hamlet of Mangano.
Venerando Patanè, known as “Nando”, a young 31-year-old motorcyclist resident in the Acisee hamlet of Guardia, tragically lost his life.
The dynamics of the accident are still under investigation.
Nando, while riding his motorbike, lost control of the vehicle for reasons that the authorities are still trying to clarify. An ambulance, three local police patrols and the 118 air ambulance promptly responded to the scene of the accident.
Despite the rapid intervention and timely transport to the Cannizzaro hospital in Catania, the young man died a few hours after hospitalization.
Social media was flooded with messages of condolence and fond memories from friends and acquaintances. Fabrizio wrote: “Nando, many memories as children, I want to remember those… also because now I wouldn’t be able to say anything. A damn second is enough to send shivers. TVB Nando Patanè”. Francesca also wanted to express her pain: “I knew you since kindergarten, we all grew up together with the other classmates and until a month ago I saw you at the bar where I work.”
The community of Acireale unites in the pain and memory of Venerando “Nando” Patanè, hoping that the investigations can shed light on this tragic event and bring a minimum of comfort to the family and friends affected by this unexpected loss.
