CARRARA – The recycling bins in Carrara (Massa-Carrara) were targeted by vandals. Nausicaa spa announced that, «following some episodes of break-ins and vandalism on the Carrara containers dedicated to separate waste collection, checks began to view the videos and identify those responsible for the damage. The electronic bins, we remind you, are objects with automatic opening via card. They therefore include an advanced system of electronic components, such as the user card reader or the opening unlocking system. It goes without saying that these components can be delicate, especially if they become the subject of damage actions, which are also prosecutable by law”.

Nausicaa reminds us that «separate waste collection is an obligation, aimed at containing undifferentiated waste and also its disposal cost. Correctly sorting waste means sending that material (plastic, organic, glass, cans, paper, cardboard and so on) to the correct recycling chains, thus avoiding further draining the Earth’s resources, which are not infinite. Producing undifferentiated waste, however, represents both an environmental and economic cost, because that material first ends up in mechanical biological treatment plants (with their cost), and then goes on to saturate the spaces in landfills.”

«The electronic bins, designed for the separate waste collection of the city of Carrara – continues the multiservices of the Municipality – are a tool for carrying out the disposal correctly. Therefore, hitting and damaging them in an uncivilized way means hitting a virtuous system, aimed at respecting the environment. It is also good to remember that certain actions (damage or illegal abandonment, for example) are carried out by a few but which concern everyone, because they create repair costs which, inevitably, fall on the entire community”.
