Campania school managers competition, chaos at the tests: appeals are already ready

The selective test for the competition for school managers has raised a lot of controversy. Test that took place yesterday. Let’s look at the data from Campania: 3599 candidates for 34 posts. There were candidates throughout Italy 25 thousand for 587 total places. According to the announcement, a number of candidates equal to three times the number of places advertised for the region must be admitted. But what is the minimum score for those admitted to Campania? A few minutes ago the regional school director provided the indications on the USR website: the minimum score to be admitted to the written test is 40 (in Puglia it is 38).

«With regards to the ordinary competition procedure referred to in the DDG prot. n. 2788 of 18 December 2023, given that, pursuant to article 6, paragraph 9, of the Notice, a number of candidates equal to three times the number of places available in each Region are admitted to the written test – as stated in the note -, given the results of the pre-selective test held on 23 May 2024, we inform you that: – in the Campania Region, the minimum score to access the written test is at 40 points, without prejudice to ongoing assessments to verify entry requirements and the results of any supplementary tests, which may determine a change in the minimum score indicated to pass the test, of which communication will be communicated in this case. – those who, at the outcome of the pre-selective test, have obtained the same score as the last of those admitted (40 points), as well as those exempted from the test, will therefore be admitted to the written test”. In practice, those admitted will be 102 out of 3559. Those admitted – continues the USR – will be announced with a subsequent notice.

But that’s not the point. How much rather the test. Unlike the previous pre-selection test (2017), in this case the battery of questions from which those for the competition test would then be chosen was not published, but 36 hours before the test «reference frameworks» were published – the experts point out – not foreseen in the notice, from which it emerged that the questions would have been on areas not covered in the previous tests. And – they add – some multiple choice questions would be incorrect.

Hence the controversy and the administrators are already ready for appeals. In Campania, the number of people ready to appeal – reveals the lawyer Guido Marone – would already be 800, but the number is destined to increase.
