Quartu Sant’Elena. A strong synergy betweenMunicipal Administration and the National Association of the Mutilated and Civil Invalids (ANMIC), to support and protect citizens with disabilities and their families who reside in the municipal area, with the final aim of expanding the range of services in the city and formulating improvement hypotheses for the benefit of the local population. Today the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the parties which seals the agreement and lays solid foundations for the future.

At the conclusion of the fruitful consultation that took place regarding the issues concerning social policies and in particular disability, in the former Capuchin Convent, in the presence of the Mayor Graziano Milia and the ANMIC delegate Fabrizio Rodinthe agreement for the launch of a shared path aimed at encouraging social services and activities regarding assistance and protection for people with disabilities was put in black and white.

ANMIC, the National Body for the protection and representation of people with disabilities, has almost 1200 members relating to the vast area of ​​Quartu, of which over 400 are residents of the Municipality, who require information and consultancy activities. And precisely to meet these citizens, a dedicated desk will open in the city within a few months.

The memorandum of understanding signed today will first of all allow us to encourage information, orientation and consultancy activities for access to benefits regional and state municipal initiatives in favor of people with disabilities. Furthermore, by facilitating access to the opportunities offered by the law, disabled people themselves and their families will be supported in the exercise and defense of their rights.

In detail, with reference to people with disabilities, it is intended to expand the possibility of electronic submission of the various requests, information and orientation activities will be promoted for access to services and benefits, personalized consultancy activities and those of socialization and leisure, also with a view to lightening the care burden for families.

The offer of services continues to grow, in this case to ensure that people with disabilities are also able to choose freely about their lives. A step forward therefore towards the ‘full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and all fundamental freedoms’, which is a fundamental principle of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”.
