Arezzo – At 5pm at the Petrarca Academy in via dell’Orto, Simonetta Casci, former Professor of History and Politics of South Asia at the University of Bologna and at the University of Pavia, will speak on the topic “Democracy according to Gandhi”. Gandhi not only led India’s liberation movement but also worked to find an Indian path to democracy. He was in favor of representative democracy, but with a strong emphasis on political participation, which placed civil society at the center of the state. At 5.00 pm, before the conference, the diplomas will be awarded to the new 2024 Associates.

Arezzo – The life and writing of Giorgio Vasari: scholars, writers and intellectuals discuss the figure of the famous artist 450 years after his death. Appointment at 6pm in the conference room of the City of Arezzo Library (via dei Pileati, 8) with “Dialogues on Giorgio Vasari”. Arezzo – 5pm “Dialogue with Orietta Lanciano, physicist at the Italian Space Agency: Discovering the world and opening new frontiers”. On the occasion of the event, to which all citizens are invited, the theme of scientific discovery and the developments of technological progress in relation to the ASI (Italian Space Agency) research basin, in which Orietta Lanciano is involved, in relation to the female figure, the promotion of which is among the primary objectives that Fidapa BPW sets itself.

Castiglion Fiorentino – The 2024 edition of the “Santucce Storm Festival” literary competition is underway. At 5.00 pm in Parco Presentini, the presentation of the series of meetings will be held as well as the presentation of the new jury which is composed as follows: Caterina Menci, Angiolo Maccarini, Stefania Battaglini, Monica Mancini, Silvia Pelagatti and Pino Imperatore. Guest of honor on May 24th is Roberto Napoletano, director of “Il Mattino”, who will present his latest work “The world upside down. Why the South will (finally) reunite Italy”. The calendar includes 5 meetings, one per month, until to arrive at the final event, December 8th, with the award ceremony of the winners of the competition. This edition of the “Santucce Storm Festival” saw the participation of 110 participants from all over Italy.

Cavriglia – The season ends at the municipal theater of Cavriglia with the Sangiovannese Theater Group, the longest-running Valdarno theater company in the vernacular founded many years ago by Alfredo Mariotti, which presents “A hat full of lies”, a “brilliant comedy in three acts” by Antonella Zucchini. The direction is by Lorenzo Castelli and on stage there are Luciano Mori, Franca Bernardoni, Giovanni Nannini, Caterina Ciambellini, Giuliana Credenti, Armando Mini, Fulvia Butteri, Cristina Arrigucci, Matteo Turchi, Fabio Guerri, Patrizia Clemente. Prompter: The other collaborators of the company are Donatella Magnelli (prompter). Piero Mini (lights and sounds), Patrizia Clemente Scene and make-up assistant).

San Giovanni Valdarno – “Tribute to Notre Dame”, is the title of the new show by the Paro Paro association which will debut at the Masaccio cinema theater in San Giovanni Valdarno starting at 9.15pm. The musical, inspired by the famous opera “Notre Dame De Paris” with music composed by Riccardo Cocciante, will see the directorial debut of the association’s vice-president Jessica Citroni, with an artistic cast of singers and dancers made up entirely of the Paro Paro and with the extraordinary participation of the artistic director Massi Fruchi. The choreography is by Annalisa Cuccoli. In just two weeks the 320 theater tickets for the Masaccio theater were sold but, still having many requests, the organizers decided to open the gallery too. The seat in the armchairs costs 8 euros.
