Four hawks they were recovered, in Piazza Duomo in Florence, in the historic center, in less than a week. As has been the case for years now, birds of prey nest on the Duomo and Campanile and in this period, when the young falcons move away from the nest, unfortunate flights are quite frequent.

The small specimens thus tried to take flight, but found themselves among the tourists in the crowd. All unharmed, they were recovered and rescued by the Urban Veterinary Hygiene Functional Unit and were entrusted to LIPU Vicchio, where they will be rehabilitated to fly in special protected corridors.

In this period it is not uncommon to find birds of prey with this type of difficulty. Animals are generally recoverable if they did not suffer too much damage in the fall.

Recently also the Piazzale Michelangelo it was the scene of other unfortunate flights. The Veterinary section of the ASL has in fact gone into action in recent days for another type of bird of prey: a tawny owl, a bird of prey that is more active at night than the hawk, was caught flying over the heads of curious tourists.
