Salerno

“I dream of becoming a photographer”. Telly Barry, 17 years old, originally from Guinea, in Italy for 10 months, after arriving in Salerno through one of the many desperate journeys in the Mediterranean and guest of the Pellezzano reception centre, had entrusted this desire of his to a social story created by school he attends, the Cpia of Salerno.

The C(i)PIAce column, on Facebook and Instagram, through which the Center for adult education, directed by Mariella Montuori, has students directly talk about their school experience and the redemption of a new life through education . The Cpia is the school that also allows non-EU citizens to obtain the diploma and the exam to obtain the residence permit.

The video, the look, the smile and the determination of Telly won over the studio of the photographer Armando Cerzosimo who, after listening to the social testimony, decided to contact the school and make a training period available at the two locations of the his photographic studio for the young student. Telly, thus, will be able to learn the first rudiments of photography and editing, his passions. This morning, at the headquarters in via Monticelli, in Salerno, the training project was signed and the practical path began.

“Switching on a light of hope in the eyes of our children, giving strength and impetus to their dreams is certainly one of the hopes with which every day all the staff committed to carrying forward the educational activities of the Center for Adult Education which in this The school year has gathered around 2000 members, we get to work – declared the school director Mariella Montuori -, we thank the Cerzosimo studio for the sensitivity shown and we hope that many companies can be attracted by the dreams of our children and help us realize them”. The Cerzosimo photography studio, which has two offices in Salerno and Bellizzi, is no stranger to initiatives that have a social impact. “Projects like this confirm the communicative and integrative value of photography which can speak to the heart and mind of everyone – said Armando Cerzosimo, who lived for ten years between Ethiopia and Somalia – my dream and that of my sons Pietro and Nicola is that to open a photographic laboratory in Africa”.
