Roads, pavements, public lighting, sewage: on Tuesday 28 May, in the City Council, with the approval of the resolution necessary for the expropriation proceedings for public utility of some parcels of land, the process of the works which concern all the urbanization services of via Giorgio Almirante, Macchia Gialla area, can finally be unlocked. “It’s an age-old issue,” declares Pasquale Dell’Aquila, group leader of the Democratic Party in the Foggia city council. “The Democratic Party, collecting the right requests from the residents, has followed and has been following this matter for years, with reports, inspections and public denunciations of a situation made tangled and painful by the negligence and culpable superficiality of the Landella Administration”. For many years, the inhabitants of the buildings overlooking Via Almirante have been waiting for the street and the area in which they live and work to be completed. Although those citizens have regularly paid the urbanization costs, the area is devoid of asphalt and sidewalks, in the dark and without a white sewer system. An unfortunate situation, which concerns a considerable number of condominiums located above all on a long stretch of dirt road, which the Democratic Party of Foggia also brought to the attention of the Commissioners. A careful and in-depth analysis of all the documents and documents produced in recent years was necessary to get to the bottom of a real mess. Some parcels of land, which must necessarily be affected by the works, were not considered and, for this reason, were not subjected to expropriation proceedings when they should have been. All this has produced delays, postponements and ultimately an absurd stalemate whose consequences are there for all to see. “With the approval of the expropriation proceeding, therefore, we will be able to unravel the tangle that we have inherited to start solving the problem and begin to complete the last ‘mile’ that separates us from ensuring the citizens of that area conditions of liveability and usability to which they are entitled. Situations like that of via Giorgio Almirante, the result of the abandonment and darkness to which the city was handed over by those who also ‘gave us’ the shame and difficulties of the commissionership, are a legacy that we are seeing and facing every day in the difficult but fundamental task of restoring care, decorum and services to the citizens of Foggia”, concluded Dell’Aquila.
