With the closure of the shop, the INPS odyssey begins: “Now they are asking for 23 thousand euros”

Shop and VAT number closed, but for INPS must pay over 23 thousand euros in contributions.
The explanation given by the Institute’s management says: “The time that has passed does not allow changes to be made to the social security position.”

This is the surreal situation he finds himself in Aurelia May, a trader from Piacenza who closed his clothing business in 2008, declaring his VAT number inactive. Four years later it too was closed.

In November 2016, however, Maggio saw a folder of Equitalia: inside the payment order for contributions not paid from 2008 to 2016. In summary: an account of approximately 40 thousand euros.

“In January 2020 I received another communication in which I was informed that the contributions for the years between 2012 and 2016 were removed from the calculation – continues the citizen – but the rest must be paid”. We are talking about around 23 thousand euros.

Maggio’s battle continues: she turns to a lawyer, in the meantime she is given a notice of mortgage on the house of which it is the owner and her current account is seized.

“I sent a request for self-defense to the INPS – explains Maggio’s lawyer, Cristina Rastelli – I was answered verbatim that the previous cancellation provision is confirmed as the considerable amount of time that has elapsed does not allow for further changes to be made to the social security position”.
