At Cardinal Massaia in Asti an exciting show to tell the story of the fight against unwanted guests

The Cardinal Massaia square hosted the show “Lights, shadows and reflections…The courage to live” on Tuesday 21 May, a story of the experiences and emotions felt by those who have experienced oncological disease. The initiative was conceived and implemented by the ASL AT with the Fragile Families Protection Project, in homage to the National Cancer Patient Day which is celebrated on May 25th.

The show represented the text “Ospite” written by Loredana Corsello from Asti (an employee of the ASL AT), interspersed with poems by Wislawa Szymborska. The diary of the discovery and fight against the disease was interpreted by the author together with Emanuela Paccagnan and Bianca Vercelli. The touching words were interspersed with the flute performance of Serena Correggia and Miriam De Giovanni; in the background the photographs of reflections by Francesco Moisio. The dancer Rebecca Grande performed, presented by the Ena Naranjo school.

The evening was introduced by the greetings of the general director of the ASL AT Francesco Arena and by Dr. Maurizio Mellana, head of the complex structure of Clinical Psychology, who also spoke on behalf of his Oncology colleagues.
“We are grateful to the healthcare company for having opened the hospital to this initiative: art protects health even when illness puts it at serious risk – commented Mellana – as healthcare workers we are constantly committed to reminding patients that hope must never be abandoned but constantly cultivated”.

The employees of the ASL AT Roberto d’Angiò and Doriano Penso and the URP of the ASL AT contributed to the technical part of the setup. Emanuela Paccagnan, former employee of the ASL AT, directed the film.
