The non-profit that is good for business in Rho. Social managers and entrepreneurs compared

Yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) at the Mantovani Furioli Conference Center in Rho, there Solidarity and Services cooperative of Busto Arsizio, in collaboration with Il Portico di Rho and with the Order of Labor Consultants of the Province of Milan, proposed “ESG is good for business”, an event for social managers and entrepreneurs to meet and network. The theme is that of the ESG transition, very current these days, which sees more and more companies measuring themselves with sustainability standards – environmental, social and governance – within their production processes.

«The event – says Gabriele Scampini, commercial manager of the Work Placement Area of Solidarity and Services – was born from the desire to demonstrate first-hand the usefulness and convenience of collaboration between profit and non-profit, through testimonials from companies for which social cooperatives have carried out various types of work (from digitalisation to back office services, from assembly to cleaning)”.

A collaboration that always has the person and their needs as its horizon. The common thread of this collaboration is “putting the person with fragility at the center and accompanying them to satisfy a real and fundamental need such as that of work” as highlighted by the prof. Michele Tiraboschi, moderator of the event and scientific coordinator of the Adapt Foundation, founded by Marco Biagi in 2000 to promote, from an international and comparative perspective, studies and research in the field of industrial and labor relations.

THE FOCUS ON THE S OF “SOCIAL”
«We decided to focus on the “S” of ESG – continues Scampini – the one that refers to social sustainability, which is often underestimated. For us at Solidarietà e Servizi, social sustainability is our reason for living.
We provide services to companies by creating real work opportunities: to date we employ 72 people with disabilities, offering Business Process Outsourcing services (administrative and commercial back office processes), assembly, mechanical processing, regeneration of equipment and document management. For our employees it means feeling useful and effective, recovering their sense of dignity. For companies, the fulfillment of a legislative obligation, cost efficiency and, why not, a useful marketing tool.”

THE EVENT
During the afternoon we therefore talked about partnerships between profit and non-profit across the board, starting from
more regulatory aspects (law 68/99 and agreements pursuant to art. 14 of the Biagi law) up to the best practices of
corporate welfare, corporate volunteering and social procurement. An in-depth analysis also on the “Social squared” project, tested for the first time by the Targeted Placement for Disabled People of the Province of Varese.

Elena Garbelli of Afol Metropolitana, Martino Busnelli of BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions, Raffaella Cirillo of CMD Varese, Paola Coltri of Eolo, Andrea Canali of Exergy International, Chiara Pennasi of Fondazione Triulza, Giuseppe Scarpa of Freccia International, Valentina Albertini, gave their testimony. of Novartis, Manuela Lunetta of Open-es (an Eni project).

AN EVENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE IL PORTICO COOPERATIVE
The event was born from the collaboration between the social cooperatives “Solidarity and Services” and “Il Portico”, two well-known and rooted organizations in their respective territories, in the year in which they celebrate two important anniversaries, 45 years since the foundation for “Solidarity and Services ” and 40 years for “Il Portico”.

«Collaboration between type B cooperatives – underlines Francesco Luoni, general director of the il Portico cooperative – represents a fundamental value. First, through teamwork, cooperatives can join forces to address broader and more complex social challenges, achieving greater community impact than they could individually. Collaboration then facilitates the sharing of experiences and good practices between cooperatives, allowing them to learn from each other and continuously improve their activities. By working together, cooperatives demonstrate the power of a business model based on collaboration and social responsibility.”

…AND WITH ORASESTA SpA
The event was created thanks to the support of Orasesta, a leading company in automatic catering. “We have always been committed to building a more inclusive and sustainable world – highlights Michele Amoruso, CEO of Orasesta. This is why we have decided to support this important event.”
