Umbria Factory Off: Le Cri du Caire at the San Francesco Museum

The “Umbria Factory Off” project continues to celebrate music with a special event. On Friday 24 May, the San Francesco Museum in Montefalco will host the Egyptian team Le Cri du Caire, at 7.30 pm. The evening, which includes the concert and a visit to the museum, offers a unique experience of musical and cultural fusion. Entrance tickets cost 15 euros, with the museum open from 10.30am to 6pm.

The event, organized in collaboration with Young Jazz and with the support of the Municipality of Montefalco and Maggioli Cultura, continues the series of musical and artistic events proposed by ZUT! The “Umbria Factory Off” program is known for its versatility and for the use of suggestive locations in various municipalities in Umbria, where theatre, dance, music and performing arts events take place.

Le Cri du Caire is a musical project born around Abdullah Miniawy, poet, singer and composer, symbol of Egyptian youth fighting for freedom and justice. His magnetic voice, accompanied by Peter Corser’s saxophone and Karsten Hochapfel’s cello, creates a unique mix of rock, oriental sounds, spoken word, Sufi poetry and electronics. The band’s name reflects the complex political situation in Egypt under the Al-Sisi regime, but Miniawy’s lyrics go beyond politics, exploring existential themes and the difficulties of life in exile.

“Umbria Factory Off” is a multidisciplinary program supported by the PR-FESR 2021-2027 Funds, dedicated to contemporary creation and curated by ZUT! of Foligno. Every year, the project hosts national and international artists, offering performances not only in the theater, but also in historic locations and unconventional spaces, creating an immersive experience in the performing arts.

The event, part of the broader UMBRIA FACTORY project, keeps alive the attention on the Italian and international theatrical, performative and musical panorama, preparing the public for the next edition of the Umbria Factory Festival. With events such as Le Cri du Caire, “Umbria Factory Off” continues to offer moments of reflection and entertainment, contributing to the diffusion of contemporary culture through art and music.
