New updates regarding the flooding of the Po river. And a new alert for a disturbance arriving across the North. The peaks of the Po flood are currently in transit in the terminal and deltaic sections downstream of Pontelagoscuro with values above the criticality threshold 2 (moderate, orange colour).
Already from the early hours of yesterday afternoon, the return below this threshold was expected for the sections of Pontelagoscuro and Polesella, while the current condition for the sections of Cavanella and Ariano nel Polesine will continue until this morning, Wednesday 22 May . Subsequently, a gradual return to values below the alert thresholds is expected from tomorrow.
In Pontelagoscuro the Po flood peak reached 1.41 meters above hydrometric zero during the night (translated it means a level of moderate criticality, i.e. orange in colour, ed).
In the upstream sections the levels are below the criticality thresholds up to Boretto and above the first criticality threshold (ordinary yellow), decreasing, between Borgoforte and Pontelagoscuro.
Aipo staff is engaged daily in forecasting, monitoring and surveillance activities, particularly in the Veneto area. The activities are carried out in coordination with local and regional civil protection systems.
The flood may affect floodplain areas. Caution is recommended near the river.
