Corigliano-Rossano, success for the Greek delegation in the city

In the context of European URBACT programme, “City-To-City” callfrom 8 to 10 May, a delegation of officials from the City of Piraeus (Greece), composed of the Director of the ICT Department, Michael Bourmposand by the Director of the Integrated Territorial Investments Department, Eleni Anezyri, visited the City of Corigliano-Rossano, returning the visit of the municipal delegation of our City which took place last April. Port development, tourism, exchange of good practices, financing, urban regeneration projects, culture and safety: these are the contents of the meetings that took place over the three days.

During the first day, in the rooms of the Center of Excellence, they were previewed, in the presence of the municipal managers of the Planning Department and the Public Works Sector, respectively Giovanni Soda and Francesco Castiglione, all the monitoring tools of the various projects launched in the last five years of the Stasi administration thanks to the use of funds deriving from: PNRR, PNRR/PINQuA, Urban Agenda-FSC 2014/2020, PN Metro Plus, PAC 2007/2013 and 2014/2020, FESR, FSE, POR 2014/2020. Furthermore, the results of the Urban Laboratory for the City of Corigliano-Rossano of the University of Trento, directed by Giuseppe Scaglione.

The second day was dedicated to visiting some of the places in Corigliano where urban regeneration investments have been concentrated, such as the Quadrato Compagna, the seaside village of Schiavonea, the “Francesco Pometti” library, the “Vincenzo Valente” municipal theater, the market fish. The visit to the Corigliano-Rossano peripheral headquarters of the Port Authority of Gioia Tauro was interesting, thanks to the availability of the manager Alessandro Guerri.

The Greek delegation, welcomed by Lucio D’Amore accompanied by the manager Giovanni Soda and from the officials of the Planning Department, he was able to learn first-hand about the future development and regeneration projects of the port. Interesting, then, was the participation among the public in the first electronic fish auction at the fish market. In conclusion, again at the headquarters of the Schiavonea fish market, the focus “Blue Economy Innovation LAB”which included an in-depth discussion on the exchange of good practices, suggestions and future plans.

On the third and final day, the Greek guests visited some of the major cultural and identity markers of Rossano, including the Codex Museum, the Amarelli Factory Museum, the Cathedral and a panoramic tour of the Byzantine historic center. The delegation from the City of Piraeus underlined that the development in their city in recent years is the result of a shared project between the public administration, private economic operators and stakeholders.
