It is as if the entire population of Rieti, in a single day, had flocked to the airport: on Friday 17 May, in fact, the Rome Fiumicino recorded its historical record of daily attendance with over 157 thousand passengers.
Despite a date that for the superstitious represents a good reason not to travel, during the entire day there were something like 978 total movementsthat is, one take-off or landing every minute and a half of flights that have connected hundreds of destinations around the world to the Italian capital.
Legitimate satisfaction expressed by the leaders of the Rome airportsgroup company Mundys which in addition to the Da Vinci also manages Ciampino, an airport devoted to low-cost traffic. In a post published on their social channels to celebrate the result, the AdR leaders thanked “all those who contributed and contribute every day with their work to making Fiumicino the best airport in Europe, with over 40 million passengers annually, as demonstrated by the awards won in recent years”.
A record, the one achieved on Friday 17 May, which also represents an excellent viaticum for proceeding with the development plan with the ambitious objective of building within the next few years “the airport of the future”, increasingly efficient and performing and surpass the milestone of 50 million passengers starting next year also thanks to the Jubilee.
