This morning, May 20, the Verona firefighters resumed the search for the young man who had been missing in the Camuzzoni canal since the previous evening in the area of the Tombetta thermal power plant.
The story is still unclear, but three young people who ended up in the Verona artificial canal were involved. Only one of them managed to reach safety on his own, as reported by Adnkronos. The alarm went off yesterday just before 8pm after a report indicating the presence of three people in the water. A subsequent call reported that there were two people, one was no longer seen. Late yesterday evening, the lifeless body of a 19-year-old of Maghrebi origin crushed near the grills of Basso Acquar was recovered. The young man came from Benin and was a guest in a reception facility. There is still no news of another young man who fell into the water and firefighters are working in the area where the 19-year-old’s body was recovered to find him. A third young man managed to escape and was found suffering from hypothermia.
