Appointment at the Grand Hotel Mattei in Ravenna for the list “United States of Europe“, That Tuesday 21 May at 8.45pm will present the leader in the north east Sir Graham Watson and many other candidates from the same list: Giulia Pigoni, Kateryna Shmorhay, Francesco Bragagni, Nicola Cesari.

Watson will also be in Cervia at 6pm (Bagno Bandito 211) for an electoral aperitif together with the candidates from the PER CERVIA list (with Grandù for Missiroli).

Watson Biography

Sir Graham Robert Watson born 23 March 1956 is a British Liberal Democrat politician who was the Member of the European Parliament for South West England from 1994 to 2014. Watson was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Citizens’ Rights, Justice and Business interiors (1999-2002). He then held the position of leader of the Liberal Group in the European Parliament for seven and a half years. From 2011 to 2015 he was president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe party. From 2015 to 2020 he was a British member of the European Economic and Social Committee.

From 2018 to 2023 Watson served as Chair of the Advisory Board of the European Center for Populism Studies. In 2021 he was elected to the board of directors of the European Cycling Federation and in November 2022 he was elected president of the World Cycling Alliance.

Watson was knighted in the 2011 Birthday Honors for political and public service. He also received honors from the Republic of China (Taiwan), Georgia and Gibraltar.

Graham Watson has Italian citizenship after his marriage to Rita (with whom he had two children). He now lives between Italy, Edinburgh and Brussels. He is currently an adjunct professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto.
