Reggio Emilia Tuesday 4 June (8.30 pm) the students of the “Matilde di Canossa” Dance High School they will go on the stage of the Ariosto theater for the end-of-year show, which – after numerous experiences – is now a tradition for the Reggio area.

The event was born from the desire to bring the young students of the dance classes before the public, in a setting of great importance such as that of the Ariosto theatre, so that they can directly and concretely experience the staging of a show of dance in all its phases: from the long months of preparation in the dance studio, to the general rehearsals, to the “hair and make-up” behind the scenes, to the adrenaline of the stage, to the contact with the public.

The Liceo Choreutico di Reggio, unique in the Emilia-Romagna region, aims – among its various objectives – to guide students to “mastery of dance languages from the aspects of composition, interpretation, execution and representation”. The show will therefore be first and foremost a way for students to put into practice the skills acquired during the school year, thanks to the careful guidance of the teachers of the institute itself. This year, in particular, the show will be guided by a common thread, namely the theme of madness.

The topic, of great depth and with multifaceted possible approaches, as well as having a direct implication in the choreography, was addressed during the school year in a multidisciplinary manner in the classes, with the contribution of the teachers of the various curricular disciplines. The students were thus able to develop a full awareness of the theme, with a very varied interpretation which is now being staged in front of the audience of the Ariosto theatre. The experience certainly also goes towards achieving another objective of the school itself, namely “the in-depth understanding of reality, so that the student is able to face problems and situations with a critical mentality and solid cultural foundations”.

The students of the “Matilde di Canossa” dance high school will perform classical and contemporary dance choreographies prepared by the school’s dance technique and choreographic laboratory teachers.

Also present in the show presented are choreographic contributions from external experts: a choreography was in fact created thanks to the contribution of the Aterballetto National Dance Foundation and the I Teatri Foundation, for the project “Dance and school – From a study to a performance”; another choreography, however, was created for the “Dance and fragility” project, in collaboration with some students with different abilities from the institute.
