LECCE – The provocative art of the Lecce artist Gianfranco Lunetta is on display in the rooms of the former Sant’Anna Conservatory of Lecce, in the heart of the ancient village. Twenty large-format works created with mixed media (oil, tempera, acrylic and insertions of toy guns and plastic lighters), whose common denominator is to suggest to the visitor a reflection on the use of weapons and its disastrous consequences.

It is no coincidence that the title of the exhibition, organized with the support of the capital municipality and Banca Mediolanum, is: “Gun flags & crazy synapses” (Armed flags and crazy synapses), with the addition of: “A journey into cosmic surrealism” ( A journey into cosmic surrealism), to also underline its artistic contents and pictorial genre.

Graphic designer, photographer and journalist, as well as painter, Lunetta trained around the world, living between Rome, Milan, Paris, London, New York and Calcutta. Working as an organizer of major events such as the fashion show on the occasion of the Italia 90 football world cup and the opening ceremony of the cricket world cup in India, he has always cultivated a love for art, which today culminated in the Lecce exhibition.

Within which, along the path illustrated by the critical notes of the university professor of aesthetics and art history, Dario Evola, “Stop the gun”, “Blood flowers”, “Money is shit” and “Life is a hard” stand out game”.

Inaugurated on the evening of Saturday 18 May in the presence of the Councilor for Culture, Fabiana Cicirillo, and made glamorous by the musical selections of the first dee jay of Puglia, Sandro Persano, known for having worked in cult venues such as the “Jackie ‘O” in Rome and the “Regine” of New York, “Gun flags & crazy synapses” can be visited until Sunday 9 June.
