Cagliari’s season ended with a happy ending that no one hoped for a few months ago. In the darkest moment for the team, however, Ranieri had had the clarity to take a step back, stating that the players needed a shake-up and that’s why he he would have resigned. Those words moved the players who, instead, asked him to stay and swore loyalty to him until today when they hugged him thanking him for his salvation. To obtain it, an important speech was necessary, so Ranieri decided to quote some words that Gigi Riva said to him on the occasion of the victory of the play off against the Bari.
