The Italian offshore sailing championship, which will take place in Brindisi from 24 to 29 June, was presented yesterday. The president of the Italian Sailing Federation, Francesco Ettore, was present at the event.
This is one of the most important sailing events that will take place in 2024 and cabin cruisers between 9 and 16 meters will participate.
The regattas will take place in the waters north of the port of Brindisi from 26 to 29 June.
«The Brindisi Sailing Club – stated the president Nino Caso – is making great organizational efforts to create the ideal conditions required for a sailing event of such importance. Hundreds of sailors and their companions will be present in the city on those days. It is no coincidence that it was necessary to block adequate hotel availability in time. All this was possible thanks to the support of the Puglia Region, the Municipality of Brindisi, other local authorities and private sponsors.”
The president of the FIV declared that «there have never been any doubts about the great attachment of the city of Brindisi to the sport of sailing, but the next Italian offshore sailing championship is also demonstrating the great organizational capacity of the sailing club, which he strongly wanted this event to take place in Brindisi.”
The mayor speaks of a “fantastic June in Brindisi”, which will see the city as a protagonist with major events linked to the sea and with the G7. «I publicly thank the Region – continued the mayor – which for the first time has shared with us a protocol that will also allow us to financially support these sporting events in the coming years. Brindisi has more berths than anyone else in the region and can be defined as the nautical capital of Puglia.”
«In Brindisi we are demonstrating – stated the president of the port authority Ugo Patroni Griffi – that we can have and do everything in a coordinated manner. This city can support its tourist, commercial and industrial vocation.”
