Limitations on the presence of fans in Desio, Apu Udine: “Disproportionate provisions compared to the category”

Udinese Basketball Friends learned with great amazement and disappointment the decision of the National Observatory on Sports Events which, regarding the Game 1 match of the Play-off Semifinals against Pallacanestro Cantù on Sunday 19 May, it placed strong limitations on the presence of Juventus fans.

The obligation to purchase tickets at physical retailers in the province of Udine only by 7.00pm on Saturday, communicated just 2 days before the race, strongly binds all enthusiasts who had organised, by bus or their own means, to reach the PalaDesio . In addition to this, it was imposed on Amici Pallacanestro Udinese the presence of unspecified “volunteers of the “APU Udine” sports club with recognizable jackets (similar to those of the stewards)” (we quote verbatim) who should have accompanied the Friulian fans to Desio. It is not known what number there were or what the professional requirements of these individuals were.

It is clear that these are disproportionate provisions compared to the categoryassumed by the Observatory in the absence of cross-examination by the Company or its representatives, given the absence of the National Basketball League among the guests invited to the technical table on May 15th.

The decision is part of an overall prevention plan which involved only football matches, with a decidedly different presence of fans compared to our basketball challenge, considering that the other events subject to special provisions are Hellas Verona-Inter, Trapani-Cavese, Napoli -Lecce, Atalanta-Turin, Syracuse-Reggio Calabria, L’Aquila-Sambenedettese and Cagliari-Fiorentina”.
